Digital Ally Provides Cloud Storage Upgrade for Georgia Police Department

The Suwanee Police Department of Suwanee, Georgia, has renewed its partnership with Digital Ally, and ordered a significant multi-year upgrade package in the process. In that regard, the department will be transitioning from a server-based storage solution to a .GOV cloud platform.

Ally’s .GOV cloud solution is built with Amazon Web Services, and is compatible with the company’s FirstVu body cameras and DVM-800 in-car video recording systems. The Suwanee Police department first started using Digital Ally’s video recording solutions back in 2008, and now maintains a network of 34 FirstVu HD body cameras and 18 DVM-800 in-car systems. Both solutions are synced with the VuLink solution, which will automatically tell both the FirstVu body camera and the DVM-800 to start recording when either one of them gets activated.

According to Digital Ally, the new cloud platform will give the Suwanee police access to a slew of new features that are not available when video data is isolated on a server. Most notably, the cloud solution will make it easier to share video footage with District Attorneys and prosecutors, and allow for the intelligent redaction of police documents.

Digital Ally is an established provider of video recording systems for law enforcement. However, the company has spent the past few months developing its physical access portfolio, most notably with the introduction of the ThermoVu device that can take people’s temperatures as they enter a venue. The solution is designed to help watch for signs of COVID-19, which can help slow the spread of the disease.

To that end, ThermoVu has now been installed at public facilities in the Kansas municipality of Linn County, and at the home stadium of Sporting Kansas City. Digital Ally has also partnered with Integrated Openings Solutions to integrate ThermoVu with other access control devices.
