DigiSign Uses Innovatrics Biometrics to Extend Digital Signing Beyond Bank iD

DigiSign, Digital Solutions’ electronic signing platform, is using Innovatrics identity verification to serve signers who cannot use Czech Bank iD. The integration combines identity document capture, selfies and liveness detection within DigiSign’s signing interface.

The need emerged through energy company E.ON, whose customers use DigiSign for contracts but do not all have Bank iD. DigiSign wanted an alternative that also accommodated international users without moving them outside its own workflow.

Bank iD gives users an identity route based on their existing banking relationship. Customers can use familiar online or mobile banking credentials for Bank iD SIGN, with no additional software installation. DigiSign also offers document-based biometric verification for people without bank identity, using a passport or national identity card and a mobile phone.

Innovatrics Web components handle document and selfie capture, with its Identity Verification technology operating in the background. Implementation took about three months. Innovatrics says the resulting verification option supports signers in more than 120 countries.

The service runs on DigiSign’s servers, allowing it to apply clients’ personal-data retention and anonymization rules.

DigiSign’s wider platform also provides several ways to connect signing to business applications. Its REST API, a programmatic interface for software integration, lets organizations incorporate signing functions into their tools and workflows. DigiSign lists more than 100 API endpoints, including webhooks for connecting system events to other applications. Its automation tools support workflows involving customer relationship management and document management systems. Its Embed API can place signing inside a client application or redirect users to DigiSign and back, and provides access to document status information without a separate login.

Liveness detection checks whether a real person is present during capture, helping identify attempts to use photographs, screen replays or masks. Innovatrics technology also supports Air Bank’s biometric mobile-app pairing. Customers enter a phone number and date of birth, receive a one-time SMS code, and take a selfie. Liveness checking and comparison with a portrait already held by the bank help confirm the existing customer’s identity when linking the My Air app.

For DigiSign, the same technology also underpins a standalone verification product used by clients including Raiffeisenbank, E.ON and Raynet, extending the capability beyond signing transactions into onboarding and other identity checks.
