The Law Society Profile aims to establish baseline interoperability standards for identity services in Canada’s legal sector, with a particular focus on supporting regulated lawyers in adopting digital trust services for remote client verification and fraud mitigation. This development builds upon DIACC’s ongoing efforts to establish comprehensive standards for secure, privacy-protecting digital IDs in Canada.
The review encompasses two main components: the PCTF Law Society Profile (Draft Recommendation V1.0) and the PCTF Glossary (Final Recommendation V1.1). DIACC seeks input specifically regarding the auditability of conformance criteria, methods for organizations to demonstrate objective compliance, and evidence requirements for conformance verification.
Stakeholders must submit their feedback using the DIACC Comment Submission Spreadsheet to review@diacc.ca within the 30-day review period. All submissions are subject to DIACC’s Contributor Agreement and Intellectual Property Rights Policy.
This initiative aligns with DIACC’s broader efforts to enable interoperability between ID systems across Canada and follows recent developments in the organization’s partnerships, including its collaboration with OIX to advance digital identity interoperability on an international scale.
The framework aims to standardize identity verification practices, enhance fraud prevention, and facilitate interoperability of digital identity solutions across various industries. Following the review period, DIACC will publish a Disposition of Comments document detailing how stakeholder feedback was addressed in the final framework.
