Dermalog Gets Fast Iris Matching Tech Certified by SGS-TÜV Saar

Dermalog has received SGS-TÜV Saar certification for its iris recognition technology, the company has announced.

SGS-TÜV Saar is a German testing and auditing firm primarily concerned with industrial facilities, environmental impact, consumer products, and management processes. In a statement announcing its certification, Dermalog says SGS-TÜV Saar has confirmed that its iris recognition technology can make 8.5 million matches per second.

Commenting on the development, Dermalog CEO Günther Mull highlighted additional qualities of the company’s technology beyond speed, asserting that it is “contactless, therefore very hygienic and requires very little maintenance.” Mull also emphasized its applications with “national ID databases, customs authorities and Border Control facilities”.

The certification could help to draw attention to Dermalog’s technology as iris scanning in general becomes increasingly mainstream with its use for authentication in consumer mobile devices like Samsung’s newest flagship smartphones.
