The CeBIT IT exhibition is coming up later this week, and DERMALOG plans to take the opportunity to highlight how its technology is being used to help manage Europe’s ongoing refugee crisis.
German authorities have been issuing special identity cards to arriving refugees since the end of January, and have gradually been rolling out a biometric component of this system that captures refugees’ fingerprint biometrics data. To that end, they are using DERMALOG’s LF10 fingerprint scanner, which the company will showcase this week in Hanover.
Needless to say, it demonstrates a particularly important applications of this kind of technology, and this application appears to be on the rise, with the UN’s refugee agency also exploring the advantages of biometric identification in helping other refugee populations elsewhere in the world. But at CeBIT, DERMALOG also plans to highlight the growing everyday use of fingerprint biometrics as password and PIN replacements in applications such as mobile payments; and the company will show how fingerprint authentication can be used in the workplace via Canon’s uniFLOW solution.
Returning to weightier issues, though, DERMALOG also plans to highlight its VF1 border solution, a device that can scan fingerprints and passports all via one surface. The company will exhibit this solution and its others from Stand F44 in Hall 6 at CeBIT.
