DERMALOG has been recognized for the pioneering design of its new CT1 Camera Tower. The CT1 is geared primarily toward airport and border screening applications, and uses facial recognition to make those processes as seamless as possible for end users.
To that end, the CT1 Tower is able to capture faces from as far as two meters away, and will automatically adjust the height of the unit’s actual camera to match that of the subject. That adjustment allows the camera to capture a higher-quality image, and generate a portrait that lives up to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Now the German Design Council has given DERMALOG its own independent stamp of approval. The Council specifically presented the CT1 with the German Innovation Award for 2022, which attests to the integrity of the biometric identity verification system. The CT1 also comes with built-in presentation attack detection capabilities to guard against spoofing, as well as contactless temperature detection tech to identify those who may be running a fever. On that front, DERMALOG was one of the first companies to start marketing temperature detection tech as a way to combat the spread of COVID-19.
“Biometrics is becoming increasingly important in the field of border control,” said DERMALOG CEO Günther Mull. “For example, biometric data is an important component of the future European Union entry/exit system. Our automated solutions significantly contribute to secure and fast data processing and ensure a seamless process at border crossings.”
DERMALOG’s portfolio includes a Self Registration Kiosk in addition to the automated CT1. The Kiosk supplements facial recognition with fingerprint recognition and a passport reader.
This is DERMALOG’s second consecutive German Innovation Award, with the company having previously taken home a prize for its Multi-Biometric Cameras in 2021. German WirtschaftsWoche magazine and Munich Strategy have also listed DERMALOG as one of Germany’s 20 most innovative companies.
