Dermalog Celebrates CeBIT Visit from German, Japanese Heads of State

Dermalog is celebrating a visit from some high-profile officials during this week’s CeBIT 2017 digital business expo. German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe both dropped by the company’s stand and got a glimpse at its biometric technologies.

Among the products Dermalog showcased to the officials were the ZF1 and LF10 fingerprint scanners; the VF1 all-in-one device for scanning fingerprints, passports, tickets, and other such documents; and the Dermalog Real Time AFIS, as well as a new multimodal kiosks incorporating fingerprint and facial recognition. In a statement, Dermalog emphasized that the LF10 fingerprint scanners viewed by Chancellor Merkel are being used by German officials to register the many refugees coming to the country, and said that with the next summer Olympics slated for Tokyo, Prime Minister Abe “showed great interest in the new VF1 device and in new types of mobile biometrics units.”

The officials’ visit to Dermalog’s booth at CeBIT reflects a broader theme of regional collaboration during the event. Japan is this year’s “partner country” for CeBIT, which is hosted in Hannover; and this week’s event was kicked off with an announcement of a memorandum of cooperation between the European Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation and the Japan-based IoT Acceleration Consortium.
