Daon Passes 200,000 Users for VeriFLY Immunity Credential App

Daon is celebrating the early success of its VeriFLY program. The mobile app debuted at the tail end of 2020, and is designed to serve as a health passport that allows international travelers to prove their COVID-19 status without sharing any other personal information.

Passengers that use VeriFLY also enjoy an expedited screening process with participating airlines, which could explain much of its appeal. According to Daon, VeriFLY now has more than 200,000 active users all over the world. Those users come from 55 different countries and are spread across six different continents, and have collectively used VeriFLY to verify their COVID-19 status tens of thousands of times since January 1.

In that regard, Daon noted that the vast majority (99 percent) of recent cases were processed within 30 minutes after the user uploaded their COVID-19 test results. The company indicated that it will soon allow passengers to share proof of vaccination in addition to COVID-19 tests, and revealed that it is currently working on an update that will allow people traveling together (such as family members) to store multiple passes on a single mobile device. Those updates will be rolled out alongside a new user interface designed to make the app more user-friendly.

“We are giving travelers confidence and peace of mind at a time when leaving home is more stressful than usual,” said Daon CEO Tom Grissen. “We are proud to be the world’s first widely adopted mobile health passport.”

VeriFLY coverage is now being offered on more than 300 flights on a daily basis. American Airlines provides service on all incoming flights to the US, while British Airways is using it for flights to the US and for inbound flights to the UK. Alaska Airlines and Iberia passengers can also use the app when traveling to the United States.
