Daon has introduced a workforce identity fraud prevention offering aimed at verifying candidates, employees and contractors across high-risk points in the employment lifecycle. The solution applies the company’s Identity Continuity approach to hiring, onboarding, system access, credential reset, step-up authentication and account recovery, with an emphasis on remote workforces exposed to fake-applicant fraud, account takeover and AI-generated document attacks.
The product combines document verification, face matching, liveness checks, passkeys and device binding. During onboarding or recovery, users can scan an identity document and complete a face scan that is checked for liveness, spoofing and tampering. Daon says the system can also validate physical documents through forensic checks and support mobile driver’s licenses through attestation, while generating biometric credentials that employees use later for passwordless access.
Daon describes the service as a Know Your Employee workflow rather than a one-time hiring check. The platform can reverify users for high-risk actions such as adding an authorized device or changing payroll details, and it can trigger further checks based on behavioral changes, location anomalies or time-based risk signals. It also supports qualification and right-to-work document handling, with verified records stored as revocable verifiable credentials.
The launch follows several Daon moves around enterprise identity assurance. The company previously partnered with MATTR on mobile driver’s license integration for biometric verification, and worked with FrankieOne on onboarding defenses against deepfakes and synthetic identity fraud. The new workforce package brings those identity verification and authentication capabilities into an employment context.
Workforce identity has become a larger fraud target as hiring, helpdesk recovery and privileged access move online. Daon’s approach gives employers a way to bind an employee identity established during onboarding to later authentication events, reducing reliance on passwords, knowledge-based recovery and other methods that can be manipulated through social engineering or forged documents.
The same workflow can also support periodic reverification after hiring, letting employers check that the person using a credential remains tied to the identity established at enrollment. The workflow supports remote work, shared devices and outsourced roles where account recovery and privilege changes can create high fraud exposure.
Daon says the workflow is supported by TrustX, xProof, xAuth and xFace applications, giving customers separate components for identity verification, passkey authentication and facial step-up checks.
