A prominent Nigerian bank is now using Daon’s biometric technology for digital identity verification and authentication.
Established in 1945, Wema Bank is one of the oldest indigenous banks in the country, providing a range of banking and financial services to individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, and large corporations. Wema Bank is known for its innovative digital banking platform, ALAT, which is Africa’s first fully digital bank.
The bank’s services include savings and current accounts, loans, investments, and mobile banking. It operates through numerous branches across Nigeria and has a reputation for reliability and customer service.
Now, it’s bringing Daon’s xProof, xAuth and xFace solutions to its mobile banking app. xProof leverages advanced biometric technologies, including facial recognition and document verification, to confirm that an individual is who they claim to be. The application captures and analyzes a user’s facial biometrics and compares them with the photo on a government-issued ID document, ensuring a high level of security and accuracy.
xAuth and xFace provide the capability of authenticating end users through a simple selfie photo during the course of everyday banking transactions.
“Integrating our digital banking app with the Daon IdentityX platform will help to keep our mission of providing our customers seamless access to a wider portfolio of financial services than ever before,” said Wema Bank’s Chief Digital Officer, Olusegun Adeniyi. “Our customers should feel safe and comfortable with secure account setup, opening doors to better savings, transfers, and rewards that our digital bank has to offer.”
The deployment was delivered in partnership with Ouranos Technologies, a specialist in software and hardware products that cater to the needs of financial institutions, businesses, and consumers.
