“With a single frictionless biometric interaction, The Hong Kong Jockey Club customers can access their accounts easily but securely, safe in the knowledge that their personal details will stay private.” – Tom Grissen, CEO, Daon
Daon‘s multimodal biometric authentication technology is now being used to secure a horse racing platform in Hong Kong, the company has announced.
The unusual deployment concerns The Hong Kong Jockey Club and its mobile TV channel app and Racing Touch app. HKJC customers can now access the apps through biometric authentication, replacing a previous authentication process that was based on passwords and security questions. The process is facilitated by IdentityX, Daon’s pioneering mobile authentication platform.
“With a single frictionless biometric interaction, The Hong Kong Jockey Club customers can access their accounts easily but securely, safe in the knowledge that their personal details will stay private,” proclaimed Daon CEO Tom Grissen in a statement announcing the deployment. “IdentityX allows what was once a 30-second login process to be completed in less than a few seconds.”
In its announcement, Daon noted that HKJC required technology that could accommodate “extraordinarily high user volumes,” prompting the company to fine-tune its technology to enable throughput of over 1,200 authentications per second.
In addition to facilitating an easier, more secure authentication process for customers, the solution is also expected to deliver considerable benefits to HKJC in terms of reduced call center volumes stemming from lost or stolen passwords.
The deployment was implemented in collaboration with Tradelink, Daon’s domestic e-solutions partner in Hong Kong, with additional support from Enterprise Ireland.
