Biometric identity solutions provider Daon has successfully deployed a biometric pre-clearance system at the Dublin Airport. It’s designed specifically for United States of American Customs and Border Protection, providing travelers destined for the US with an expedited security screening process.
The system deployed by Daon uses Automated Passport Control (APC) kiosks to automate passenger screening. Daon implemented its system in collaboration with aviation expert GCR, and at the behest of Dublin Airport, which sought a new screening system that could improve both efficiency and the customer experience.
In a statement, Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison explained, “The quality of the passenger experience is hugely important to us,” adding, “We were looking for a technology company which could deliver while working in partnership with Dublin Airport and align with our business planning to ensure successful operation in a very short timeframe.”
The airport’s choice, Daon, not only has a history in biometric border control, but has lately boasted of great success in deploying its versatile, multimodal IdentityX biometric identity management platform, which was recently upgraded. The company’ strong track record evidently made it an appealing choice to Dublin Airport, which has now become Europe’s only capital city airport to offer pre-clearance screening to US-bound travelers.
