Daon and Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) have announced a global partnership aimed at delivering advanced digital identity security solutions across several high-risk industries. The collaboration brings together Daon’s biometric authentication and identity verification capabilities with G+D’s extensive security infrastructure and digital transaction technologies.
Targeting Fraud and Fragmented Identity Systems
The partnership is focused on key verticals including financial services, mobile network operators, government identity programs, and the broader digital identity ecosystem. It addresses widespread challenges such as AI-driven fraud, regulatory compliance, and the fragmentation of existing identity management systems. Both companies aim to deliver integrated solutions that ensure identity continuity throughout the customer journey, from onboarding to authentication, transaction approval, and account recovery.
Daon CEO Tom Grissen said the partnership will help bring secure, scalable identity verification tools to a wide range of industries. “G+D has a long history of innovation across a wide range of security solutions,” he said. “From bank cards to Central Bank Digital Currency, they launched the first commercial SIM card and delivered the world’s first commercial eSIM. We are proud to facilitate the introduction of new scalable, secure identity verification and biometric solutions to millions of users across various industries and use cases.”
The partnership also reflects broader shifts in regulatory expectations, particularly in Europe, where frameworks like eIDAS are raising the bar for digital identity assurance and fraud prevention. For financial institutions, the partnership offers a response to growing concerns about poor identity controls at the root of many fraud cases.
Technical Integration and Strategic Scale
The collaboration will integrate Daon’s TrustX identity platform with G+D’s eSIM management solutions to support secure mobile onboarding and authentication processes. For mobile network operators, this promises to streamline customer verification while meeting evolving telecom and financial compliance standards. The companies will also leverage G+D’s Convego TAP solution, which enables secure identity recovery through passkeys and card-based step-up authentication, adding resilience to compromised or lost credentials.
G+D’s digital identity solutions are already used by governments, banks, and enterprises in over 30 countries. The company employs more than 14,000 people and is a global leader in digital security. Daon, meanwhile, processes hundreds of millions of identity transactions annually through its biometric and liveness detection platforms, supporting major customers in finance, healthcare, and aviation.
