CyberLink Celebrates Improved FRVT Performance

Taiwan-based CyberLink is celebrating a strong performance in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Facial Recognition Vendor Test.

The company’s FaceMe algorithm attained a ranking of 18th in the world, and noted that if participants from China and Russia are removed – such companies routinely perform well in NIST testing, but face restrictions as vendors to the US government – the company attained a ranking of eighth place.

“FaceMe is seeing strong improvement compared to our previous NIST benchmarks, up 45% in accuracy rate, anchoring its prominent ranking in all testing criteria,” commented Dr. Jau Huang, CEO of CyberLink, in a statement. “Thanks to our strong precision standings and unparalleled integration flexibility across edge devices, FaceMe continues to be the best fit for AIoT deployment.”

CyberLink’s announcement highlighted FaceMe’s performance in certain categories in particular: the algorithm achieved an accuracy rate of 99.7 percent in VISA 1E-4 and 97.17 percent in WILD 1E-4.

The announcement comes just a couple of weeks after CyberLink revealed that it had entered into a partnership with Altek to bring its FaceMe platform into the latter’s AI BOX, an edge computing solution. Last month CyberLink had also announced a partnership to integrate FaceMe into IEI Integration Corp.’s industrial computers.
