Facial Recognition Specialist CyberExtruder Teams with Video Surveillance Firm

Seeking to get its 3D facial recognition software into more cameras, New Jersey-based CyberExtruder has teamed up with Hanwha Techwin, a video surveillance specialist.

The partnership revolves around the integration of CyberExtruder’s Aureus 3D solution into Hanwha Techwin’s IP video camera platform. Aureus 3D is designed to use AI-driven biometric technology to enable 3D facial recognition based on video analysis.

As CyberExtruder CEO Paul E. Nicholas explained in a statement announcing the partnership, his firm uses “patented 2D to 3D pose correction technology” featuring “deep convolutional neural network algorithms” that enable sophisticated facial recognition in real world deployments. Nicholas also asserted that Aureus 3D “offers the flexibility to connect and configure a wide variety of Hanwha cameras.”

The announcement noted that both companies are currently carrying out joint projects in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru, and asserted that their technologies are being used in a range of deployments spanning “banks, airports, casinos, universities and… city surveillance.” That all suggests the partnership is starting on some very solid footing, especially in the context of a growing market for biometric surveillance solutions.
