Welcome to FindBiometrics’ digest of identity industry news. Here’s what you need to know about the world of digital identity and biometrics today:
AuthID Teams with Notary Platform
AuthID Inc. has entered into a partnership with the National Notarial Centralized Verification System (NNCVS) to incorporate biometric identity verification into NNCVS’s online notary platform. NNCVS, which provides a nationwide online service for notaries, aims to transition from a local and in-person framework to a more secure, digital model. To that end, NNCVS will use authID’s platform to verify the identities of notarial agents and their clients. AuthID’s platform is designed to offer quick and reliable user authentication through biometric checks that compare selfies with ID document photos, enhancing security throughout the user’s interaction with the service.
iVALT Launches Anti-Deepfake IDV App
iVALT has launched a mobile app, dubbed OnDemandID, designed to let users confirm the identity of individuals on the other end of phone calls, video calls, or online interactions with a single click. iVALT says the system can prevent deepfake attacks and other forms of identity fraud by verifying multiple elements such as biometrics, device ID, and location-based parameters like geofencing and time windowing. The app keeps biometric data on the user’s device and does not track their movements, aligning with privacy concerns. Additionally, iVALT supports integration into existing enterprise mobile apps, offering a solution for enhancing caller verification processes within the corporate environment.
Keyless Partners with KYC Specialist EnQualify
Keyless, a company specializing in secure facial recognition, is teaming up with EnQualify, a provider of AI-powered Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, to revamp online identity verification. Keyless’s privacy-protecting ZKB technology will be integrated with EnQualify’s AI for initial user verification. They say their approach lets a single selfie be used for both onboarding and ongoing authentication, eliminating the need for repetitive steps and storing user data, and promises a faster, more secure, and more user-friendly verification experience.
Waave Secures Digital Wallet with Biometrics
Australian fintech Waave is boosting security and convenience for online payments with its new Wallet app. Designed to work with its existing Pay by Bank system, a real-time bank transfer payment method, Wallet uses fingerprint or facial recognition for secure authentication. This eliminates the need for passwords and card details, addressing growing concerns about online fraud after a wave of cyber breaches in Australia. Waave aims to streamline the payment process while reducing costs for both consumers and merchants compared to traditional card transactions. The Wallet will also gain expense tracking features later in 2024.
Waitlist Opens for Web3-Linked Wearable
BeatBit Wellness Lab’s CUDIS ring has entered the wearable tech market with a focus on user control over health data. The Solana-based device tracks biometric data and uses AI for personalized health insights. CUDIS allows users to contribute anonymized data to a research network in exchange for potential rewards, prioritizing user data ownership. It boasts secure data storage on the blockchain and integrates with other Solana and Web3 products. Following a well-received launch event, BeatBit opened a waitlist for early access to the CUDIS ring.
Worldcoin Unveils Layer 2 Plan for Digital ID
Worldcoin has unveiled World Chain, a new blockchain platform designed to prioritize verified human users over bots, providing them with priority blockspace and gas allowances. Integrated with the Worldcoin protocol’s Proof of Personhood, World Chain aims to reduce network congestion and transaction fees often caused by automated bots. The Layer 2 solution is secured by Ethereum and is part of the Superchain ecosystem. Set to be open source and permissionless, with future plans for community-based governance, World Chain seeks to offer developers a large pool of verified users for deploying everyday utility applications. NSW Pilots Digital Birth Certificates
New South Wales (NSW) has initiated an Australia-first trial to test digital birth certificates, involving over 18,000 children associated with specific educational institutions. The pilot, led by the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in collaboration with the Department of Customer Service, explores the use of digital certificates that hold the same legal validity as traditional paper versions. The digital option is introduced to simplify administrative tasks such as school and sports registrations and loan applications, while offering enhanced security and convenience, particularly in areas susceptible to disasters where paper documents could be destroyed.
