High-end hat retailer Goorin Bros. has implemented Crossmatch biometric technology at its POS terminals. Crossmatch’s U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Readers have allowed the retailer to achieve PCI compliance.
Speaking in a press release, Goorin Bros. Sr. Systems Administrator Ward Anderson praised the fingerprint readers, saying that the technology “allows us to meet our complex password policies, resulting in PCI POS login compliance and security against data breaches.” Moreover, the devices, which are connected directly to the retailer’s POS terminals, have made employees’ lives easier and improved their efficiency by allowing them to quickly log on to the POS with their own biometric credentials: “Our employees can now quickly log in using the fingerprint readers, speeding the process so they can truly focus on our customers,” Anderson added.
Crossmatch’s U.are.U Fingerprint Readers are becoming more and more commonplace in workplace environments. In December of last year, for example, the company’s technology was used to improve both security and employee efficiency at the branches of First Bank in the US; and the month before, Crossmatch’s technology was used to cut down on truancy and time sheet fraud at a bakery chain in Mexico. All of this has followed in the wake of Crossmatch’s corporate rebranding after its major acquisition of DigitalPersona last year, and given the company’s success since the rebrand, we can expect more such deployments to come.
