Island Credit Solution has partnered with the Philippine Statistics Authority to add National ID authentication to CreditMo, its digital credit-report platform. Users requesting their own credit information can verify their identity through the national system instead of relying solely on a submitted photograph of an identity document.
The integration uses National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) to check a user’s identity against the National ID database. According to the announcement, Island Credit Solution is the first Special Accessing Entity and credit bureau partner to integrate with NIDAS. Banks have used the same service for onboarding; GoTyme Bank, for example, connected account opening to National ID authentication.
CreditMo lets individuals view their credit reports and scores, review their credit history and payment behavior, and receive personalized insights and financial product recommendations. Because those reports contain sensitive financial information, the partners say the National ID check is meant to reduce fraudulent identification and protect the confidentiality of credit records.
Before the integration, users requesting a report had to complete several verification steps, including submitting an identification document, confirming personal details and passing a liveness check. With NIDAS, they can verify their identity in a single step using the National ID.
PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista, deputy national statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, said the partnership shows how the National ID can support practical digital services. Henedine Palabras, officer-in-charge assistant national statistician of the PSA’s Use Case Development and Management Service, said it supports efforts to strengthen trust, transparency and accessibility in digital and financial services.
Alex Zhu, deputy chief executive of Island Credit Solution, said the company wants credit information to be useful to individuals, not only to the financial institutions that assess borrowers. He described the approach as turning the “magnifying glass” that institutions use to assess borrowers into a “mirror” that lets individuals understand their own credit profiles.
Mery Singh, Island Credit Solution’s chief of staff, said the company’s goal is to help Filipinos access information that can support more informed financial decisions and open up potential financial opportunities. The partners presented the integration as an example of public and private sector technology working together to improve access to digital services.
