Credence ID is sharpening its focus on Latin America.
The company says it is opening a new office in Mexico City, and has appointed a new Director of Channel & Business Development for the Caribbean and Latin America region, Jeremy James. In a statement announcing the moves, Credence ID highlighted James’ experience in the financial services industry and his work “leading business initiatives at another leading biometric technology provider”.
Credence ID also emphasized its hiring of Francisco Gonzalez, who was previously CTO at Biometria Aplicada, a Mexico-based biometric solutions provider founded in 2000. The company did not specify Gonzalez’s new role, but emphasized his experience as a “seasoned biometric technology professional.”
“Their combined experience and complementary skill sets provide a unique advantage for our partners.” said Rob Garrigan, the company’s Vice President of Business Development for the Americas, commenting on the new hires.
“Opportunities in Mexico, Central and South America in banking, social welfare and law enforcement will benefit from the expanding family of Credence ID devices,” said Garrigan.
The increasing focus may be a sign of an increasingly active biometrics market in the region, with biometric security solutions provider UMANICK having opened a new office in Colombia at the end of last year, and the FIDO Alliance having attained its first Latin American member last spring. In announcing its new regional efforts, Credence ID cited “organic growth in regional mobile identity projects and demand from global partners”.
