Credence ID has announced the appointment of David Barcelo as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In his role, Mr. Barcelo will oversee key financial functions, including reporting, corporate development, and capital raising, as the company continues to scale its operations in the rapidly growing Mobile ID verification market.
Credence ID’s platform, which supports Mobile IDs from all U.S. states implementing Mobile Driver’s Licenses, is also compatible with major digital wallets such as Apple Wallet, Samsung Wallet, and Google Wallet. With a client base ranging from government agencies to commercial enterprises like sports stadiums, bars, and restaurants, the company reports increasing demand for its identity verification solutions. Use cases include age verification, expedited check-ins, and identity assurance, reflecting broader consumer adoption of mobile-based identification.
Mr. Barcelo brings over two decades of experience in the identity and technology sectors, with expertise in strategic partnerships, corporate development, and financial strategy. Notably, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Aware, Inc., where he implemented key financial measures to transition the company toward recurring revenue. Before that, he spent 15 years at IDEMIA in senior finance roles, where he contributed to digital identity initiatives and major mergers and acquisitions, furthering the company’s global footprint in secure digital transactions.
This appointment aligns with Credence ID’s mission to lead in the Mobile ID market, particularly through its Verify with Credence platform, which simplifies Mobile ID verification for businesses.
“The energy around Mobile ID verification is electric, and the wave of consumer adoption is coming,” said Credence ID President and CEO Bruce Hanson. “I’m excited to have Dave’s industry expertise as we embrace the challenges of scaling our company to meet the demands of this new industry.”
The news comes after Credence ID was awarded two new patents for technologies related to secure verification processes and privacy-enhanced identity validation last month.
