It’s the start of autumn, COVID-19 is far from behind us, and yet the biometrics industry appears to be back in full swing, judging by this week’s roundup of FindBiometrics’ top stories. Then again, given the preponderance of contactless technologies discussed in this roundup, it may be because of the pandemic that the industry is showing such momentum.
Touchless responses to COVID certainly came up in an interview with IDEMIA’s Pedro Alves. Speaking to FindBiometrics President Peter O’Neill, IDEMIA’s VP of Business Development, Extended Borders, talked about how his company is adapting its airport-focused solutions to travel in the COVID age, among other topics:

The effects of the pandemic are also a very important part of this month’s special event, Digital Transformation in the Enterprise. In a recent featured article we delved into the evolution of access control, which is now adapting to the need to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace:

Moving away from direct COVID concerns, this week also brought news of a set of industry standards designed to lay the groundwork for digital ID programs in Canada:

And finally, readers in the biometrics industry were also interested to learn this week of a new executive appointment at Alcatraz. The provider of a face-based access control solution has named Holley Hunt as its new Director of Business Development:
