COVID-19 has made a comeback in this week’s roundup of FindBiometrics’ most popular stories, appearing in every single headline of the top five.
Two of the week’s top stories also pertain to air travel. Thales, for example, got a lot of attention from FindBiometrics visitors with its projections on how COVID-19 will transform the air travel industry, including a greater push toward contactless passenger screening solutions:

On that note, this week also brought news of further technological enhancements at Singapore’s Changi Airport – already a hub of biometric innovation in the air travel space – aimed specifically at adapting to the pandemic age:

Meanwhile, other stories concerned anticipated growth in parts of the biometrics market, both in spite of and because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the one hand, a new industry forecast is predicting the fingerprint sensor market to double between 2020 and 2025 despite the growing aversion to contact-based shared-use technologies. The overall market will certainly take a hit from COVID-19, but technologies like biometric smart cards will help to ensure continuing growth:

And on that note, Fingerprint Cards got some attention this week with its prediction that COVID-19 is helping to drive interest in biometric payment cards in particular:
