“Partnering with U.S.-based Identiv allows us to bring one of the most secure—and powerful—portable biometric devices to market utilizing the latest smart card technology.” – Jeff Kormanec, CEO, Corvus
Corvus has integrated the Identiv 4501 smart card reader board into its Tetrad biometric sensor package.
Announced earlier this year, the latter features an integrated ‘four-slap’ fingerprint scanner and a 5MP camera for facial and iris scanning, with all modalities supported by biometric algorithm software from Neurotechnology. The package also features and an eight-inch tablet with Windows 10 Professional and 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Identiv’s solution, meanwhile, brings to the Tetrad a smart card reading capability, with support for the ISO/IEC 7816 contact-based standard and the ISO/IEC 14443 contactless standard, and an NFC capability.
The new functionality should help to increase the Tetrad’s appeal to the border patrol market at which it is aimed. As Corvus Integration CEO Jeff Kormanec explained in a statement announcing the integration, his company is “committed to delivering the most secure, innovative solutions to help protect our borders,” and partnering with Identiv has enabled Corvus ” to bring one of the most secure—and powerful—portable biometric devices to market utilizing the latest smart card technology.”
