Corsight AI is ramping up its US operations to meet the growing demand for its facial recognition tech. The company has only been around since 2019, but has already deployed its technology in 50 countries all over the world.
The operational support for those deployments comes from offices in the UK, Singapore, and Australia, in addition to the US. The expansion of the US operation will help the company deliver better service for government agencies (including law enforcement agencies), and for private enterprises in sectors like aviation, retail, and entertainment.
Corsight did not share specific details about what its expanded US operation will look like, at least in terms of total head count. However, the company noted that the interest in its flagship Fortify product has increased in the past few years. The solution is able to detect and identify masked faces with a high degree of accuracy, which makes it a more appealing option in the pandemic public safety environment.
The Corsight facial recognition algorithm has also performed well in NIST testing, winning praise for its minimal amount of bias. The solution is consistent for people of different ages and genders, and delivered a significant reduction in racial bias in its most recent evaluation.
“Corsight AI was founded on the principles of creating game-changing biometric technology without compromising speed, accuracy, or privacy,” said CEO Rob Watts. “There is a real need for this type of innovation, especially amidst mask coverings, darkness, ethnicity, and other challenging conditions. The increase in demand is a direct result of the Corsight team’s commitment to ethical application of facial recognition as a Force for Good.”
Corsight is a subsidiary of the Cortica Group, and emerged from a $70 million R&D program. The company’s R&D division is located in Israel, and is reportedly working on a system that would be able to predict what someone’s face will look like based on their DNA.
