Colorado has expanded its digital identification options by integrating Samsung Wallet, allowing residents to store their driver’s licenses and state ID cards digitally. The initiative aims to offer enhanced convenience and security for users who prefer digital solutions for identity verification.
Residents with Samsung devices can now add their Colorado driver’s license or state ID to Samsung Wallet. This feature is available to all eligible users, enabling them to verify their identity by tapping or scanning a QR code through the Samsung Wallet app. Following similar implementations in other states, this digital ID can be used at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints at select airports, including Denver International Airport, providing a seamless travel experience.
The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and local news outlets have reported a positive reception to the new feature. The state’s approach to digital ID security aligns with emerging standards in biometric verification and anti-spoofing measures, ensuring robust protection for users’ digital identities. The integration with Samsung Wallet represents a significant step in the state’s efforts to modernize and simplify identity verification processes for its residents.
In addition to Samsung Wallet, Colorado residents can manage their digital IDs using the myColorado app, available on Google Play. The app allows users to create an account with a Colorado driver license or state-issued ID and offers various digital services, further supporting the state’s digital transformation initiatives. The expansion follows the trend of other states implementing mobile ID solutions, demonstrating a growing nationwide movement toward digital identification systems.
