“…Cognitec says its template generation capability proved to be the fastest of the highest-ranking algorithms with False Rejection Rates under 0.01 percent.”
Cognitec has upgraded its facial recognition algorithm and has seen some excellent results in its performance in a major industry testing program.
The company submitted its face matching algorithm to the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) for evaluation in its Ongoing Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) 1:1. In results published in November, the algorithm made it to the top ten of 100 algorithms in accuracy testing using visa photos. And Cognitec says its template generation capability proved to be the fastest of the highest-ranking algorithms with False Rejection Rates under 0.01 percent. Cognitech’s algorithm showed an FRR of 0.0001 percent.
The news comes after Cognitech’s announcement last summer of an upgrade for the face matching algorithm underlying its FaceVACS biometric engine.
In a statement announcing the “remarkable leaderboard positions”, Cognitech also emphasized its “market-leading position within the biometric industry since 2002,” as well as its “personable customer support” and efforts “to foster the responsible use of face recognition technologies worldwide.”
Cognitech says its new algorithm has prompted the release of new versions of all its products featuring its facial recognition technology.
