Cloud Services Provider Sees Biometric Advantage as GDPR Looms

A cloud storage specialist is taking advantage of biometric security to help clients comply with the impending GDPR regulations in the European Union.

Based in California, Zadara is the company behind Zadara Storage Cloud and VPSA Services. And the company is putting its security processes in the spotlight ahead of the implementation of the EU’s new privacy guidelines, which it called “the most significant and broad reform to data protection law in 20 years” in a statement. In addition to putting biometric locks on its equipment cages, the company also leverages encrypted management communications, dual-factor authentication, and data deletion and drive clearing for data removal, among other security measures.

Zadara is thus one of numerous solutions providers using sophisticated technologies to get a competitive advantage as a wide range of firms scramble to ensure they will comply with the GDPR. As Zadara VP Oded Kellner explains, “GDPR is now forcing companies worldwide to rethink their internal infrastructure and processes,” and Zadara is “pleased to be taking a leadership position by offering our customers a GDPR-compliant foundation upon which their entire IT operation can be built.”

Zadara’s case represents a larger trend of cloud service and colocation solutions providers taking advantage of biometric access control; and with the GDPR scheduled to take effect May 25th, it’s a trend that could ramp up over the coming weeks and months.
