The Venetian resort is hoping that CLEAR’s Health Pass application will make it safe for people to return to Las Vegas for conventions and other in-person events. The resort operates the Sands Expo and Convention Center and the Venetian Congress Center, and will use Health Pass at both to make sure that guests are not infected with COVID-19.
Health Pass is a free app that allows people to link their personal information with their medical credentials. Users could initially only use the app to submit self-reported surveys, but its utility has since been expanded to enable people to share official information from other sources. For example, people can now use the app to share their vaccination records, their COVID-19 test results, or the result of a temperature check at a biometric kiosk.
The Venetian noted that the Health Pass pricing structure differs from that of CLEAR’s airport screening solution, which asks individual customers to pay a $179 annual fee. With Health Pass, the venue is responsible for the licensing fee, and guests are able to download and enjoy the benefits of the app at no extra charge. CLEAR’s airport offering is currently available in more than 50 airports in the US, including McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
Both Venetian convention centers have received GBAC Star Facility Accreditation for their strong outbreak prevention protocols, which now include Health Pass services. The organization’s Venetian Clean Commitment has also picked up a Safe Guard Hygiene Excellence and Safety Label from Bureau Veritas for introducing sound operational best practices.
“In-person meetings and tradeshows are critical for their ability to drive commerce and networking,” said Venetian and Sands Expo Sales SVP Chandra Alison. “As meetings return to Las Vegas, we stand ready to partner with meeting professionals to plan and host safe conventions and trade shows. Through our Venetian Clean Commitment, we are proud to offer a product that addresses the safety of meetings and customers can book with confidence.”
The State of Hawaii and multiple professional sports teams are some of the many organizations that are already using Health Pass to screen their guests. The Philadelphia Convention Center is also hoping to use immunity credentials to provide guests with a safe experience, though that venue opted for Daon’s VeriFLY rather than Health Pass.
