Clear has announced an expansion of its TSA PreCheck enrolment locations, adding seven new sites to its network.
The move is meant to provide easier access for travelers wishing to enroll in the Trusted Traveler program, which enhances the efficiency and convenience of airport security screening.
The newly added locations include major airports such as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Denver International Airport (DEN), Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport (PVD), San José Mineta International Airport (SJC), and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU). With these additions, Clear now operates TSA PreCheck enrollment facilities in 27 airports across the United States, including Puerto Rico.
Clear, under the authorization of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), offers in-person TSA PreCheck enrolments for $77.95 and online renewals for $68.95. TSA PreCheck allows travelers to expedite their airport security process by keeping their shoes, belts, and light jackets on and leaving their laptops and liquids in their bags. This benefit also extends to children under 12, and teenagers aged 13 to 17 if they are traveling on the same reservation and have the TSA PreCheck mark on their boarding pass.
In addition to TSA PreCheck, Clear offers a membership program that uses biometric scans (fingerprint or eye scans) to further speed up the security process. A Clear Plus membership costs $189 per year, with potential discounts available through certain credit cards or bundled packages with TSA PreCheck, priced at $190.95.
Earlier this month, bipartisan legislation introduced by Representatives Clay Higgins (R-La.) and Bill Foster (D-Ill.) to study the TSA’s use of digital identification systems has advanced to the House floor after clearing a key committee. The bill mandates that TSA produce a report on the impact of digital IDs on U.S. homeland security, detailing the current state of digital identity ecosystems, and their benefits and risks.
