Biometric identification developer CLEAR has won a new contract to bring its traveler screening platform to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas. As with its other deployments around the US, this newest project is integrated with the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program.
With its use of fingerprint and iris biometrics to authenticate the identities of travelers, the CLEAR platform is certified by the Department of Homeland Security as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology. Its integration with the TSA’s PreCheck program is helping to fast-track air travel passenger screening via pre-approval of vetted travelers and biometric authentication, with CLEAR having been approved for Maryland’s BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport earlier this year, and installed at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport last summer. Interested travelers can enroll in a free one-month trail, and special offers are available via corporate and family plans as well.
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport project is a good opportunity for CLEAR to demonstrate its utility and effectiveness, given the airport’s growing prominence. In a press release, CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker asserted that it’s “one of the fastest-growing airports in the country, serving almost 11 million passengers last year.” And the airport will benefit as well; as Executive Director Jim Smith attests, “CLEAR offers… an expedited security screening process which enhances customer service.”
