The US Customs and Border Protection agency is inviting Texans to sign up for its Global Entry trusted traveler program, with the announcement that it is now offering enrollment services at 11 locations through the state. Citizens can sign up for the program at enrollment centers in Austin, Brownsville, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Hidalgo, Laredo, San Antonio, and four locations near Houston.
In a statement announcing the enrollment centers, the CBP emphasized the convenience offered to travelers in the Global Entry program, which allows members to verify their identities in a pre-screening process ahead of airport visits. The agency noted that Global Entry members can be processed at airport kiosks in “as little as 45 seconds”, and that there’s no need for members to fill out customs declaration forms as part of the travel process.
Global Entry members are also able to take advantage of TSA PreCheck, an associated pre-screening program for travelers that allows for expedited biometric processing at participating airports. There are currently more than 200 such airports in the US, and 47 participating airlines.
Meanwhile, Global Entry is available not just to Americans but also to citizens from Argentina, Colombia, Germany, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, and the UK.
