Carium has outfitted Perfect Care with a comprehensive virtual care suite to help monitor patients recovering from surgery. The suite includes the Carium mobile app in addition to a FitBit tracker and a connected blood pressure cuff and digital scale.
The solution makes it easier for healthcare providers to coordinate several key aspects of the post-surgery treatment schedule. To that end, Carium will set up in-person and virtual appointments, and automate the delivery of PROMIS self-report surveys. It will also gather biometric information in real time, giving doctors the opportunity to step in if the patient displays any symptoms that point to a potential complication.
According to Perfect Care, Carium has dramatically increased the number of patients that it can process in a given month. Carium was built to be a scalable healthcare solution, and covers the entire 90-day post-surgery period.
“Prior to Carium, we were using several biometric trackers and a lot of manual processes,” said Perfect Care Nurse Navigator Shannon Crotwell. “It took upwards of 90 minutes per patient, just to walk through the setup of the apps. Carium has reduced this time to less than 20 minutes and a single app. It’s been a welcomed enhancement to our program with a significant reduction in administrative burden to our clinical team and our patients.”
“Perfect Care is consuming enormous volumes of cardiac care data and processing it to produce opportunities for interventions,” added Perfect Care Chairman and Executive Director Kevin Lobdell. “This combination of novel data with clinical and claims data allows us to see new trends, identify correlations, and make even better treatment plans.”
The Carium solution reflects the growing interest in remote healthcare options during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is one of several such offerings to emerge in the past few months, following the release of virtual care systems from MonitorMe and Tribell Lab.
