CardLab has secured an agreement with Thai British Secure Printing that will see biometric technologies from Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics integrated into TBSP card products.
It could prove to be an important strategic win for CardLab and its partners as the emerging biometric payment cards market takes shape. TBSP is a certified Visa and Mastercard manufacturer, and was the first card printer in Thailand to receive ISO 14001 certification, pointing to its prominence in the country.
The company has obtained a license to all of CardLab’s technologies, including its partner Fingerprint Cards’ T-Shape fingerprint sensor module, designed for integration into smart cards, and the Precise Biometrics algorithm software that supports FPC’s hardware. In a statement announcing the agreement, TBSP Managing Director Natapong Pinitpongskul explained that for TBSP, “it is important to deliver the best and most secure card products to our customers and with the rising fraud levels we have been looking to implement better technology in our cards.”
It isn’t yet clear when CardLab’s solutions will be realized in their first TBSP card product integrations, but the companies’ announcement suggested that such products will appear in a “short time”.
