According to the Government of Canada website, by December 11 of this year visitors hailing from a list of 30 countries will be required to submit biometric data as part of the Canada visa application process. Today Aware Inc., announced that its Biometric Services Platform (BioSP) will be deployed as part of the involved screening process. Aware’s involvement will also see the company providing its Universal Registration Client (URC) and the related COTS APIs.
The software will be integrated into a new screening tool that the Canadian Government will be using to cross-reference the identity of people applying for study permits, work permits or visitor visas against criminal and immigration records databases.
On the thoroughness of the permit screening solution, Rob Mungovan, Aware’s Vice President, comments: “The new Canadian tool exploits the full capabilities of Aware’s BioSP and URC products in terms of their robustness, functionality, and flexibility.”
Starting tomorrow in Montreal, Quebec, this technology will be on display at the Ninth Symposium and Exhibition on Machine Readable Travel Documents (MRTDs), Biometrics, and Border Security.
