Camvi Tech Gets Top Ranking for Wild Images in Latest NIST Testing

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has issued the results of its latest Face Recognition Vendor Tests (FRVT), and Camvi‘s technology has come out on top in the category of Wild Image accuracy.

It’s the category concerned with images featuring non-cooperative subjects – individuals who didn’t pose for the camera – such as those captured from surveillance video feeds. Additionally, these images can have considerable variation in resolution and other quality aspects. As such, Wild Image recognition is generally considered the most challenging area for facial recognition technologies.

In a statement announcing its strong performance in the category, Camvi asserted that 56 companies had submitted algorithms for this round of testing. Commenting on its top ranking, Camvi CEO John Chen said, “We have put a tremendous amount of effort into developing the fastest, most accurate and most scalable face recognition technology and our efforts were reflected in the latest FRVT results,” adding, “We are very confident of the immediate and broad applicability of Camvi’s solutions in a wide range of applications.”

Camvi’s success in the latest round of NIST testing may in part reflect the company’s strong focus on artificial intelligence as an integral component of its biometric technology – an approach that has been embraced by a growing number of companies lately as AI and biometric imaging technologies have increasingly converged to produce cutting-edge solutions.
