Taiwan-based AI and facial recognition tech company CyberLink and Japanese startup Bitkey have announced they are once again teaming up in a partnership that will see CyberLink’s FaceMe facial recognition solution integrated into Bitkey’s Workhub connected smart office platform.
The integration means that Workhub will now have artificial intelligence and facial recognition capabilities, allowing for a more seamless and contactless workplace experience for its customers.
Founded in 2018, Bitkey has grown in recent months to become a top smart lock provider in the Japanese domestic market, with its Workhub platform now operational at both Bitkey’s headquarters as well as the Tokyo Square Garden building complex.
Workhub is a multimodal platform with support for a number of different authentication methods in addition to face biometrics including IC cards and QR codes.
Along with allowing for contactless access control into offices, Bitkey’s platform also can manage individual workspaces within an office, granting or denying permission to specific meeting and conference rooms to registered workers, while also being able to control the allocation of individual booths and cubicles.
Additionally, Workhub is able to use CyberLink’s FaceMe facial recognition algorithm to monitor the occupancy of shared spaces and conference rooms in real time in order to ensure proper safety measures are being followed — a feature with added utility as the world continues to struggle with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the second collaboration between Bitkey and CyberLink, following the initial integration of the latter’s facial recognition tech in July of 2020.
