Biometric security solutions provider Suprema has extended the smart card-reading capabilities of its BioStation 2 terminal. The new models are now compatible with 125KHz HID Prox, 125KHz EM, and 13.56MHz HID iClass SE RF standards.
Those capabilities are in addition to its current RF lineup, which already supports 13.56MHz MiFare/DesFire/DesFire EV1/Felica/NFC formats. With the expansion of its BioStation 2 RF card compabilities, Suprema hopes to also expand the system’s adoption, particularly in the American and British markets.
BioStation 2 has other qualities going for it, of course. An extension of Suprema’s web-based IP access control platform BioStar 2, the fingerprint-scanning terminal is designed for use in both indoor and outdoor environments, can read wet and dry fingers, and sports a number of networking interfaces. Perhaps most importantly, it can match up to 20,000 fingerprints per second.
The upgrade of BioStation 2 is a testament to Suprema’s commitment to technological advancement. The company has won both acclaim and high-profile partnerships with its biometric security solutions, and the expansion of its latest offering’s capabilities may lead to more.
