VariQ Awarded $350 Million Department of State Contract

Maryland-based cloud services and cybersecurity provider VariQ has announced that it has been awarded a $350 million contract by the U.S. Department of State (DoS).

The contract, which is is with the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs’ Office of Western Hemisphere Programs (INL/WHP) IT vehicle, will be used to provide integrated IT solutions for enhanced international drug control and to develop civilian law enforcement capacity, regional partnerships, and information sharing.

“We are honored to have been selected to support the U.S. Department of State with the enhancement of technologies to strengthen transnational criminal interdiction, while furthering partnerships across the Western hemisphere,” said Ben Edson, CEO of VariQ.

This is one of three anticipated contracts aimed at exploiting new and existing technologies to leverage advanced biometrics, cloud computing and mobile capabilities to build information fusion systems.

With the addition of the DoS INL WHP contract, VariQ’s national security portfolio is robust, including existing partnerships with the Department of Homeland Security‘s Office of Biometric Identity Managment, the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Homeland Security Headquarters.

For this contract, VariQ will work within Latin America and the Caribbean to build information fusion systems.
