Tapplock Brings New Fingerprint Lock Accessories to CES

Tapplock is demoing a handful of new accessories at this week’s CES show in Las Vegas. The accessories are designed primarily for the company’s enterprise level clients.

The highlight is the Tapplock box 2.0, which takes advantage of Bluetooth technology to make it easier for companies to enroll new fingerprints in its enterprise software platform. Tapplock is best known for its biometric padlocks, which can be unlocked through fingerprint authentication. The company’s enterprise software provides clients with an auditable access log and a comprehensive view of every lock connected to its network, and also allows clients to remotely manage permissions and access privileges for multiple employees.

The Tapplock box 2.0 is AES encrypted and boasts a rechargeable battery that can last for 500 days. It is designed for use with the Tapplock one+ padlock, which can be opeend through fingerprint recognition, Morse code, or through Bluetooth using a mobile device with the Tapplock app.

The other new accessories include a charging dock and longer shackles. The charging dock can hold and charge up to ten Tapplock one+ locks (eight through the dock and an extra two through USB). The shackles, meanwhile, are now available in 40mm and 58mm lengths in addition to the standard 24mm.

The Tapplock one+ was first unveiled back in 2018, offering a 7mm reinforced stainless steel shackle and an IP67 water-proof rating that allows it to function in adverse weather conditions. The lock built on the success of the company’s initial crowdfunding campaign, which brought in more than $40,000 in early 2016.

The new Tapplock accessories will be on display at CES booth #42949 in the Sands (Halls A-D). Guests will also be able to get a look at the Tapplock one+ and the Tapplock Lite, which can store up to 500 and 100 fingerprints, respectively.
