“First unveiled at this year’s ID4Africa event in Johannesburg this past June, the BioMini Slim 3 lays claim to the world’s slimmest fingerprint sensor.”
Suprema ID has announced that it has attained FAP 30 certification for its BioMini Slim 3 optical fingerprint scanner.
A subset of the FBI’s PIV specifications, the FAP 30 certification essentially means that Suprema’s technology is approved for use in sensitive government applications. The certification requires testing under the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) Image Quality Specifications (IQS) program, and is widely considered an important standard beyond the government agencies that use it.
First unveiled at this year’s ID4Africa event in Johannesburg this past June, the BioMini Slim 3 lays claim to the world’s slimmest fingerprint sensor. It’s also notable for its Multi-Dynamic Range and Live Finger Detection technologies, helping the sensor to capture more detailed fingerprints and to ensure that they are from a live finger and not a spoofing attempt.
Now, with its FAP 30 certification, the BioMini Slim 3 could prove even more appealing to a range of organizations that must adhere to a high standard for biometric imaging.
Commenting in a statement announcing the certification, Suprema ID CEO Bogun Park emphasized the BioMini Slim’s capabilities in challenging conditions, asserting that it’s “designed to provide the best reliable performance over dynamic conditions such as outdoor and mobile environments.” Park added that the device is also a response to “increased market demand for FAP 30 fingerprint scanners,” and asserted that it will lead this market segment.
