SecuGen has announced that it will be showcasing its Unity Biometric Development Platform (BDP) at the Connect:ID 2020 event in Washington, D.C. The event will run from March 11-12 at Walter E. Washington Convention Center, where guests will be able to check out the SecuGen solution at booth #542.
Unity BDP was designed to help manufacturers to integrate fingerprint recognition into a wide variety of products, such as payment terminals, handheld devices, and industrial equipment. The SecuGen solution offers both fingerprint registration and fingerprint matching capabilities in a Linux development environment.
SecuGen has used the Unity BDP as the foundation for its own fingerprint readers and many of the offerings in its U20 line of fingerprint modules. That includes the new U20-ASFX that SecuGen is already bringing to Connect:ID.
“We began work on Unity to advance the development of one of our new products. As we proceeded, it became clear that this architecture would enable our partner’s product development as well,” said SecuGen Sales and Marketing VP Jeff Brown. “Now, Unity delivers a comprehensive set of tools that allow developers to create fingerprint enabled products quickly and efficiently.”
“Unity BDP is not just a sensor, it is an entire development platform that is both software and hardware expandable,” added Engineering VP Dan Riley.
The Unity BDP is FBI FAP10 and FAP20 certified, and is compatible with serial, USB, Bluetooth, and ethernet interfaces. It also comes with an API that provides developers with access to fingerprint matching and extraction algorithms and the OpenSSL cryptographic library.
SecuGen’s U20 fingerprint sensors recently appeared in Laxton’s Chameleon tablets. Before that, SecuGen released a new SDK plugin designed specifically for users of Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Services. The SDK allows users to plug a SecuGen reader into a local device to enable biometric authentication on that device.
