Ramco Systems Announces Facial Recognition-Based Touchless Attendance System

India-based software and services provider Ramco Systems Limited has announced the development of a new facial recognition-based attendance system.

The new system — known as RamcoGEEK — supports IoT door sensors capable of temperature recording, and is aimed at helping organizations around the world move towards a touchless attendance and workplace access model.

The touchless capabilities of the system could be of particular importance in the wake of the COVID-19 viral pandemic that has so far affected more than 220,000 individuals in more than 110 countries.

Consequently, a number of governments across India have already halted the use of fingerprint sensors in lieu of touchless biometric access systems.

“We have a major global health pandemic that has affected many,” said Ramco Systems CEO Virender Aggarwal. “The spread of the disease has brought the focus back on hygiene and health of employees.”

RamcoGEEK’s facial recognition capabilities allow it to detect and authenticate the faces of staff members, noting their attendance as well as their temperature.

The door sensors can restrict access to individuals that register a temperature higher than normal, and the attendance tracking system can automatically register and apply a leave-of-absence for the employee based on their temperature results while communicating the information to management in real-time, Ramco says.

“We built this application to help better address a crisis through technology,” said Aggarwal, adding that “[r]obust containment through a robust attendance and access system with zero contact and temperature measurement can be key to avoid easy spread of the virus that may take place with biometric access system.”

In areas where facial recognition-based attendance tracking is subject to legal regulations and/or is considered a privacy concern, customers using RamcoGEEK can choose to replace it with voice matching technology to allow access.
