Onfido has teamed up with Moflix to streamline the onboarding process for new mobile customers in Switzerland. Together, the two companies will enable fast and secure identity verification for people using yallo swype, a new, fully digital on-demand subscription platform that allows customers to sign up for a new network contract remotely.
The subscription service comes courtesy of yallo, which is itself a subsidiary of the Swiss mobile operator Sunrise Communications AG. Onfido’s selfie-based authentication tech will allow yallo to carry out the strict identity checks required of telecommunications providers.
To that end, Onfido uses face and document recognition to match a photo of the user to the image on their government ID. The solution automates much of the onboarding process while negating the need for extensive digital forms that need to be reviewed manually.
According to Onfido, the solution has already reduced the amount of time needed to verify the identity of a new customer from 30 minutes to three minutes. It has also lowered the cost of each new customer since the technology can scale while simplifying internal procedures.
“Our experience with yallo swype shows that we can support fully digital onboarding while still complying with legal and regulatory requirements,” said Moflix Co-Founder Marc Degen. Moflix is a provider of digital interaction platform services.
“Modern telecommunication organisations, such as Moflix and yallo, understand the need for a new verification approach that provides strong fraud protection while creating a positive user experience,” added Onfido Co-Founder and CEO Husayn Kassai.
The partnership should continue to fuel Onfido’s impressive growth over the past year. The company has added several new clients to its portfolio in recent months, including Entify and Switzerland’s b-sharpe currency exchange.
Onfido’s authentication solution was also named as the Best Product for Next Gen Fraud Prevention at the 8th annual InfoSec Awards in February.
