Manchester Co-working Space Opts for Biometric Payments Tech

All Work & Social, the operator of a co-working space in Manchester, England, has become the latest organization to embrace Fingopay‘s biometric payments platform.

The partnership means that members of All Work & Social’s XYZ building in Spinningfields will be able to pay for food and beverages – the building features an in-house coffee bar – simply by scanning their fingers. Fingopay’s technology is designed to link users’ finger vein biometrics to their payment card accounts, meaning that they can make purchases without the need for any hardware – not a physical card or even a smartphone app.

For All Work & Social, the partnership represents an opportunity to further establish itself as a hub of innovation in Manchester. “We are thrilled to partner with Fingopay on this project, which can only further support Manchester’s growth as a digital city, and international hub for the tech, digital and creative industries,” commented All Work & Social Managing Director Anthony Powell in a statement announcing the deployment.

The partnership’s announcement comes after Fingopay partnered with Cardstream this past spring, opening access to the latter’s Open Payment Network for retailers. And it arrives after the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, which had trialed the Fingopay system in early 2018, decided to expand its use of the system in December.

Fingopay’s partnership with All Work & Social is part of an effort to establish a firm foothold in Manchester, with the company asserting that it has been working with Greater Manchester Council, the CityCo business and civic alliance, and Manchester’s MIDAS investment agency. Its deployment with All Work & Social is slated for this autumn.
