Integrated Biometrics Brings on New VP of Engineering

Integrated Biometrics (IB) is hoping to advance its manufacturing and Research & Development goals with the addition of Demian Bigelow as the company’s new Vice President of Engineering. The company has also expanded its facilities in South Korea and opened new office space in Phoenix, AZ.

The expansion reflects IB’s desire to increase its engineering and manufacturing capabilities in response to the rising global demand for its technology. The new Phoenix offices include a larger clean room that will be leveraged for thin-film research and manufacturing, and the broader investment in space and people will triple IB’s R&D output and double its annual manufacturing capacity.

Bigelow will help guide those operations in his capacity as the new VP of Engineering. He will be asked to oversee the development of new products, and work to improve IB’s existing Light Emitting Sensor (LES) film technology. Bigelow brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, and has previously held senior positions with other companies in the biometrics sector.

“The changes we’ve announced are based on solid forecasts for strong years in 2020 and beyond,” said IB CEO Stephen Thies. “The increase in our manufacturing and research facilities meets our aggressive sales forecasts with the flexibility to respond to unpredictable market interruptions.”

The new additions should allow IB to build on the momentum it picked up in 2019. The company recently revealed that revenue growth was up 50 percent over 2018, leading Inc. Magazine to name it as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States.

In June, IB opened a new office in South Africa in an effort to solidify its presence in the African market. The company has since partnered with Iris ID to develop a new handheld device with iris and fingerprint recognition capabilities. The device is primarily geared towards law enforcement, access control, and other security applications.
