AI and facial recognition company CyberLink and Taiwan-based iMedtac have announced a partnership that will see Cyberlink’s FaceMe artificial intelligence-driven facial recognition integrated with iMedtac’s Automatic Dispensing Cabinet (ADC), providing enhanced security.
iMedtac’s is integrated into its iHospital medical services platform, billed as part of the AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things). To enhance the protection and delivery of controlled substances, iMedtac’s ADC will now be able to identify authorized personnel using artificial intelligence and facial recognition through CyberLink’s FaceMe engine.
“The rapid growth of AI technologies, enables innovation across multiple facets of healthcare, driving breakthroughs in treatment, safety and the quality of patient care,” said Dr. Jau Huang, CyberLink’s founder and CEO. “The integration of FaceMe AI facial recognition engine into iMedtac’s smart medicine cabinet is a good example of how AIoT solutions can drive transformation of the medical industry and deliver safer, more efficient and better care,” he added.
Because it is connected to the iHospital platform, iMedtac’s ADC can also be synchronized with authorized employees’ specific work schedules to increase security and control over when controlled substances contained within it can be accessed.
“By implementing CyberLink’s FaceMe AI facial recognition engine, iMedtac’s Automatic Dispensing Cabinet brings AI and IoT technology into medical care, enhancing the safety of prescription drug delivery,” said Ken Yu, iMedtac’s founder, adding that “iMedtac strives to provide the latest medical technology and solutions. Cooperating with CyberLink, we are able to build an integrated iHospital service platform and drive change to the global smart healthcare market.”
The smart medicine cabinet is being rolled out first to medical centers in Taiwan, with iMedtac planning to eventually expand its distribution to other Asian countries with hopes of bringing it to medical centers around the world.
