The Care Provider Network (CarePN) has created a new platform that is designed to improve patient outcomes in the midst of the opioid epidemic. To that end, the platform will track and coordinate millions of patient care plans across multiple facilities, ensuring a continuation of care that better meets the individual needs of people struggling with addiction.
“Current treatments are not coordinated, relying instead on the patient to map their own route to recovery,” said CarePN Founder and CEO Bob Smoley. “Unfortunately, experience proves that, when left on their own, patients are ill-prepared to determine what comes next and to stick to the plan over time. The result is frustration, desperation and, all too often, relapse.”
To solve that problem, CarePN’s platform will utilize VerifyID’s facial recognition technology to confirm the identity of a patient whenever (and wherever) they come in for treatment. As a result, each patient will receive the appropriate care, and that will hopefully increase the chances that the treatment will eventually be effective. The platform will also allow CarePN to take proactive steps if a patient strays from their treatment schedule.
In the meantime, CarePN will work to connect patients with suitable treatment facilities in its extensive network, while simultaneously assuring those providers that they will receive guaranteed payments at a negotiated rate. CarePN notes that treatment providers often collect only a fraction (25 percent) of the total billed amount, which is why the arrangement should be appealing to patients and providers alike.
