Aware’s CaptureSuite to be Deployed at U.S. Border Crossings

Biometric software services company Aware Inc. has announced that its CaptureSuite solution has been chosen by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) to be deployed at land and border crossings in an effort to protect the nation’s borders.

This new deployment will be an extension of the air entry border crossing system used by the CBP which has also been utilizing CaptureSuite’s technologies for several years now.

CaptureSuite is a set of three fingerprint software development kits (SDKs) that use a number of algorithms to enable rapid fingerprint capture and assurance that is independent of the device being used to capture the fingerprint image.

“Aware has been a trusted biometric product supplier to the U.S. Federal Government for over 25 years,” said Aware’s CEO and President, Bob Eckel. “As a U.S.-based company, we are proud to assist our government in protecting our borders, our citizens, and our service men and women,” he added.

This partnership is the latest in a series of forays into biometric technology by the CBP in recent months, as U.S. officials within the department appear eager to take advantage of the growing tech to make the surveillance and identification of those entering and exiting the country quicker and easier for their agents.

The CBP will incorporate the CaptureSuite fingerprint software into its border stations in an effort to rapidly capture the prints of people crossing U.S. borders to help minimize queue buildup without having to sacrifice the quality of the captured prints.
