The Leader in Converged Access for the Enterprise
Founded in 2010 by tech veteran Rob Douglas, BioConnect offers biometric access control solutions for both physical and digital assets, taking a holistic approach to enterprise security. BioConnect’s solutions range from mobile-based authentication for online applications to biometric door locks to two-factor authentication for access to server cabinets.
BioConnect’s solutions and expertise are reflected in the caliber of its clients and partners. Global companies like Facebook, Microsoft, EY, Nike, and Starbucks are taking advantage of BioConnect’s solutions, and its expansive integration network includes names like IBM, Okta, Duo, Lenel, and AMAG.
A Comprehensive Solution for Enterprise Security
BioConnect’s platform is flexible and scalable. It can be deployed on-premises on a one-time perpetual license, or through a cloud-based subscription platform that can be adjusted over time.
The fifth-generation version of BioConnect Enterprise offers a number of important features, including:
Support for mobile biometric authentication: Employees can gain access via a simple selfie on their smartphones.
Compatibility with the BioConnect LR1 door reader: The LR1 supports fingerprint recognition, swipe card scanning, and Multi-Factor Authentication tools including Duo, Okta, and PingID.
Compatibility with Suprema’s F2 reader: Suprema’s physical access solution supports facial recognition and thermal screening.
The platform’s support for mobile-based authentication is enabled through a feature called BioConnect Link, which won the prize for the Best Emerging Technology at the 2020 ISC West New Product Showcase.
BioConnect Enterprise is designed for large organizations with complex infrastructure, and is aimed at helping them to minimize the risk of data breaches and attain regulatory compliance.
“For companies with a global footprint, managing multiple geographic locations and diverse user communities can be a challenge,” explained BioConnect CTO and CISO Courtney Gibson. “We designed BioConnect 5.0 to deliver the highest level of security and scalability to protect organizations from physical data breaches while still maintaining privacy for users.”
Adapting Quickly to a Changing Security Landscape
The BioConnect platform is constantly evolving, offering clients the assurance that it will not only meet the enterprise security needs of today, but also those of tomorrow.
This evolving adaptability can be seen in BioConnect’s rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. As early as May, the company had added a “wellness declaration” feature to its BioConnect Link solution. This feature prompts employees seeking to gain access to facilities with a brief questionnaire designed to assess whether they have any signs of illness or have had a positive COVID-19 test. It gives administrators greater control over workplace security, enabling them to send sick employees back home before they have entered the premises.
“We are committed to helping our current and future customers keep their employees and facilities safe & secure, by adding a wellness declaration to BioConnect Link’s mobile application as part of a dynamic rules-based access platform to facilitate the opening of their facilities as safely as possible,” explained Douglas.
Dynamism and Momentum
Clearly, there is a tremendous amount of dynamism and innovation in play at BioConnect. And it also seems clear that the company is just getting started: just last summer, BioConnect was selected for participation in the MaRS Momentum program, a government-based accelerator program for high-growth companies that are on track to exceed $100 million in revenues.
Shortly after that, BioConnect’s Mobile Wellness Declaration Solution was selected by the Digital Technology Supercluster – a cross-industry collaboration aimed at using technology for the public good – to aid in the economic recovery and renewal of Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic.
These initiations reflect the building excitement about BioConnect and its mission, and point to an ongoing upwards trajectory as it helps to secure more enterprise organizations worldwide.
