“BioCatch’s system operates on profiles comprised of more than 400 cognitive, bio-behavioral and physiological parameters. How a user holds her mobile device, how she scans a page or responds to a site’s interface: these are the authentication factors.”
Today, behavioral biometric authentication and threat detection provider BioCatch launched its new tool to protect relying parties and their customers from eCommerce fraud.
Using behavioral biometric analysis BioCatch’s solution can detect suspicious conduct and authenticate repeat customers. This is made possible by BioCatch’s behavioral profiles, which are assigned to every customer of a given eCommerce site or mobile app. This reduces friction through what is often referred to as “invisible” biometric authentication. Every action taken by a customer while online shopping is measured and compared, authentication barriers only popping up when an anomaly is detected.
BioCatch’s system operates on profiles comprised of more than 400 cognitive, bio-behavioral and physiological parameters. How a user holds her mobile device, how she scans a page or responds to a site’s interface: these are the authentication factors. Returning to a site will require authentication as will any behavior deemed consistent with signs of fraudulent activity.
Benny Rosenbaum, CEO of BioCatch, explains: “The eCommerce solution developed out of a necessity for effective fraud protection, while minimizing obstacles for customers visiting eCommerce sites. The platform is a natural progression of our continued successes protecting banks and online spaces. We are effectively addressing the two greatest problems facing eCommerce today: user-experience and fraud.”
The solution described here is BioCatch’s flagship threat detection technology. Because of it’s passive nature it can also detect bot-related activities, presenting a solution for user liveness detection and replacing the need for CAPTCHA images.
In addition to the launch announcement, BioCatch announced that it will be holding a webinar on June 9, 2014 focusing on how behavioral biometrics can reduce fraud in eCommerce and banking.
